This intimate documentary explores the complex lives of Israeli and Palestinian gays and lesbians in inter-ethnic relationships. Director Elle Flanders breaks with the sensationalistic media coverage of the violence in the Middle East by documenting the everyday lives of courageous, outspoken individuals as they take small steps towards peace, mutual respect and hope.

Fariba, persecuted in Iran because of her love for another woman, assumes the identity of a man to gain temporary asylum in Germany.  She takes an illegal job in a sauerkraut factory, where fellow worker Anne takes an interest in the strange foreigner.  As the two become close, Anne begins to suspect Fariba’s true identity—and both women face danger when authorities tell Fariba she must return to Iran.
